This cute cat is 1 of my preferred paper collage for little ones projects. I enjoy the appear of the black marker shapes on the newspaper body.
Drawing on newspaper is an notion that has been about for awhile. The advantage, aside from recycling of paper, is that you have an immediate texture to what ever you are making on it. Small variety in particular can even make a type of general “gray” appear that would be tough to get if you have been attempting to draw it by hand.
That getting mentioned, working with newspaper with young ones for lots of busy classes has a handful of drawbacks. It requires time to come across it your self, and if students have been to appear for it their personal, it would take even longer, not to mention all the fingerprints going everywhere from the ink.
The option? Use my handy-dandy PDF template to print as several as you require, on the paper of your selection (I advise anything yellowish for that aged appear.)
The template linked under has the cat as an all on 1 piece, with dashed lines so students can get the advantage of tracing practice also. I applied the web page with the tail line integrated for pre-K students, and the 1 with no for the kinders on up. That gave them a tiny more drawing practice and space to be inventive (Skinny tail? Fat tail? Scared tail?)
For a wonderful lead in, attempt reading the book “Henri’s Scissors” by Jeanette Winter. It’s a superb description of how Matisse fell in enjoy with collage, soon after his potential to paint was gone. It’s a sweet story and great for early elementary age students.
