What is Puppy Chow?
Puppy Chow is a well-liked snack created with Chex, chocolate chips, and peanut butter and tossed with powdered sugar. It’s a straightforward, no bake treat that children appreciate! We appreciate that it only has a handful of components that we normally have on hand. The original recipe has a ton of sugar. In our version we reduce way back on the sugar and made use of half the normal quantity of butter- but it is just as sweet and scrumptious! The addition of sprinkles offers it the best vacation flair.
How to Make Puppy Chow
This recipe is so straightforward that my children can just about make it by themselves! Melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter with each other and drizzle it more than the cereal. Toss cautiously to coat, then add to a ziplock bag with the peanut butter and gently shake. That’s it! We added some sprinkles to give it some vacation flair. These are entirely optional!
Can you make Puppy Chow with out peanut butter?
While most versions of Puppy Chow include things like peanut butter, you can substitute the peanut butter for sunbutter to make it allergy friendly! It will have a unique flavor than the peanut butter version- but it’ll nonetheless be super tasty. It’s a fantastic decision when you are attempting to function with a peanut allergy.
How entertaining is this? We attempted adding some peppermint extract to 1 batch. If you appreciate peppermint, it is a fantastic variation! Swap out the sprinkles for crushed candy canes to enhance the peppermint flavor even much more. This tends to make a fantastic present tied up in a cellophane bag or in a jar tied up with a vacation bow.
